Subtravtive is when you mix colors using paint and it means that one begins with white and ends with black and if you add more it turns darker. Additive is when you mix colors and it begins with black and ends with white and if you add more it turns whiter. Both have to mix colors in order to work.

The warm colors are red, yellow, light green, orange, and pink. The cool colors are blue, purple, and dark green.

My interpretation is that is so cool that you can get different designs by just using different hues. My favorite is the modern contrast because it has medium value that uses shades, tints and various saturation levels.
